A: I got my permaculture design certificate in 2011, then did an internship in Australia under Geoff Lawton, a heavyweight in the permaculture world (and HE studied under Bill Mollison, the guy who started permaculture!). After that, I got certified as a Permaculture Teacher under the Permaculture Research Institute and started a permaculture school in Barbados, where I trained over 100 permaculture designers. I’ve since done 150+ consultations and designs for private clients and government bodies, and mentored over 1600 students. When it comes to off-grid living, I draw on my own experiences of living in a tiny home that I designed and built myself. I have students around the world who have built their own homes, created inspiring landscapes, and even gone on to become designers and teachers. I have also created over a dozen edible landscapes for clients including personal homesteads, city gathering spaces and schools, and First Nations reserves.

I designed this course to keep you engaged and awake! My lessons don’t feel like stuffy university lectures. I crack jokes, use a special software called Prezi to make engaging visuals, and give you hands-on assignments. I am a passionate and professional teacher who wants to provide you as much value, and engage you, as much as I can.

A: The biggest thing that makes ASA unique is how we train you to be a generalist so you understand how everything works and goes together. This holistic learning give you a lens to understand your world, how it works, and how you can then work within it.

Most courses out there either focus on theory OR practical application. We give you both. You learn design AND practical skills and knowledge for every day living including off-grid living, food production, waste management, water management, and more.

A: Let’s make sure you have all the information before you take this exciting big step in your life!

P.S. DONT BE SHY! If you have a question, likely 20 others have the same question. Kenton will directly get back to you. And then he might get me (your trusty website builder) to put the question here in the Q&A section! So ask away.
